Briony Cole - Diving
Briony Cole joined her school diving team as a 10-year-old for ‘a little bit of fun’, but that beginning has led her to major success on the diving world stage.
Since 2004, Cole has trained with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in springboard and platform diving at Brisbane’s National Training Centre.
Returning to her hometown of Melbourne for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Cole gave an impressive performance, winning the gold medal in the women’s synchronised 3-metre springboard event with partner Sharleen Stratton.
In 2007 at the FINA World Championships, Cole won a silver medal in the women’s synchronised 10-metre platform event with Mellissa Wu, and a bronze medal with Stratton in the women’s synchronised 3-metre springboard.
At the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Cole and Wu took out the silver medal in the women’s synchronised 10-metre platform event. Cole was also named 2008 Australian Female Diver of the Year and received the Nathan Meade Memorial Scholarship.
Goal driven and hard working, Cole is focussed on the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
