The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), in partnership with major sponsor Nestlé, is inspiring primary school children across the country to learn the value of good health, nutrition and physical activity through an exciting free resource for teachers.

Get the AIS into Your Classroom is a health and physical education resource designed by teachers for teachers. It provides 13 comprehensive units for children in Year 5 and Year 6 on the benefits of healthy eating and physical activity, through a fun and engaging virtual tour of the national centre for sporting excellence: the AIS.

Originally created in 2001, the newly revised and expanded edition of Get the AIS into Your Classroom contains two brand new units each covering eight full lessons:

  • Sports Ability: all about inclusion in the sporting arena and how to modify and adapt games to make them more accessible for more people
  • Leadership: explores the personal qualities of sporting role models and how these traits can help children to be good leaders in their school community.

Get the AIS into Your Classroom contains a wealth of practical hands-on health and physical education lesson plans and worksheets that can be used together or separately by Australian teachers in all states and territories.
