The Australian swim team has left its mark on Delhi dominating the pool to take home 54 medals over six days of competition.

The women were fierce and proved to be a force to be reckoned with winning 31 medals in total. The men led by comeback king Geoff Huegill and super fish Matthew Cowdrey won a total of 23 medals.

Over night the ‘bronzed’ Aussie Ashley Delaney (AIS) secured his first gold of the games to help bring the Australian men’s 4x100m medley relay team victory over South Africa and England in a games record of 3:33.1.

Alicia Coutts (AIS) continued her reign in the pool securing her fifth gold medal in the women’s 4x100m medley relay.  Alongside team-mates Leisel Jones, Emily Seebohm, and Jessicah Schipper the Aussies powered home in a time of 3.56.99 smashing England and Canada.

Jessica Schipper and Brenton Rickard both dug deep to find gold in their races overnight capping off a sensational meet.

AIS athletes Ellie Cole and Matthew Cowdrey turned on the charm with Cole winning bronze in the women's 100m S10 and Cowdrey despite swimming up a division to come fourth, still clocked a record time for his usual S9 division.

All eyes now turn to London 2012.
