Golden run for Australia in 4x400-metre relay
Australia’s Joel Milburn, Kevin Moore, Brendan Cole and Sean Wroe have won gold with a stellar performance in the men’s 4 x 400-metre relay at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
Australia cruised to victory, recording a time of 3:03.3 seconds to claim gold, as well as defending their title from the 2006 Commonwealth Games, finishing 0.54 seconds ahead of Kenya in second place. England finished in third place.
Current Australian Sports Commission staff member and ex-Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) scholarship holder Brendon Cole ran a strong third leg, recording 46 seconds over the 400-metres to help set up the win.
In other strong results, Cole finished in 6th place in the 400-metre hurdles.
Among his other talents, Cole has also worked as an AIS massage therapist in supporting the training of Australian athletes and teams in preparation for the Games.
It marks the first time Australia has won consecutive gold in the men’s 4 x 400 metre relay.
