Rowing Australia, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), announced the appointment of Chad King as the AIS/National Senior Coach – Adapting Rowing on 2 March.

King will commence in this position on 21 March. He will coach AIS adaptive rowers Kathryn Ross and Grant Bailey (double scull) and Ben Houlison (single scull). The three rowers train at Canberra’s National Rowing Centre of Excellence, which was created to prepare rowers for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

King has a strong record in coaching adaptive rowing. He was head coach of the UK adaptive rowing team that topped the medal tally in the category’s debut at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Kathryn Ross (with John Maclean) won a silver medal for Australia in the Paralympic debut races.
