The Kookaburras made history on Sunday 11 December by winning the 33rd Champions Trophy in Auckland New Zealand. This is the 4th consecutive year that the Kookaburras have won the trophy, ensuring that they remain on top of the hockey world rankings for another year.

The win was topped off with AIS scholarship holder Jamie Dwyer being named the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH’s) World Hockey Player of the Year for the fifth time in his career (2004, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011). The award is based on players’ votes and confirms that Dwyer is still a force on the world hockey stage, especially as he was injured for majority of this year. This caps off an exciting couple of months for Dwyer, who was also inducted into the AIS Hall of Fame in November
