Staff and athletes at the Australian Sports Commission are deeply saddened by the passing of former Australian Institute of Sport athlete Daniel Batman following a car accident in the Northern Territory.

Daniel was an exceptionally gifted athlete and perhaps one of Australia’s best all round track sprinters having recorded personals bests of 10.19 sec, 20.44 sec and 45.02 sec in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres respectively.

He was a national champion multiple times and had two stints (2002-03 and 2005-08) as an AIS scholarship holder in Canberra.
