This New Year marked a first for the Australian Institute of Sport’s (AIS) European Training Centre (ETC) in Varese, as its doors remained open throughout the winter months to provide support for our Winter Olympians.

Athletes from the AIS and Olympic Winter Institute (OWI) Skeleton and Ski Cross programs utilised the ETC throughout December and January as they prepared for competition in Europe and the 2014 Sochi Olympics. The athletes received access to the strength and conditioning facility and recovery support services.

Guests from the OWI were officially welcomed to AIS ETC by the President of the Province of Varese, Dario Galli. They arrived just in time to see the first real snowfall of the season, with Varese receiving 15cm of snow.
