Awards for getting kids active
The Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC’s) Active After-school Communities (AASC) program is proud to announce the winners of its national 5 Star Community Coach and Super Site Awards for 2008.
The AASC program acknowledges coaches, primary schools and out of school hours care services (OSHCS) that make an exceptional contribution to the strength and growth of community sport.
The 5 Star Community Coach Awards recognise excellence and outstanding achievement by coaches in helping to deliver the AASC program and to getting kids physically active.
These coaches lead by example by encouraging and inspiring kids to give sport a go, to have fun and to develop their motor skills. They also create opportunities for kids to enjoy a positive sporting experience in a fun and safe environment.
The Super Site Awards recognise the marvellous contribution made by around 3250 sites — primary schools and OSHCS — in the coordination and delivery of the AASC program.
This year’s award winners represent the depth and diversity of Australian community sport.
