World Masters Games
The 2009 World Masters Games will take place in Sydney, 10–18 October.
During the Games over 25 000 people from more than 100 countries will come together to compete in 28 sports at 72 venues across Sydney.
The Games are open to everyone, not just elite athletes — participants simply need to meet the minimum age for their sport, which ranges between 25 to 35 years.
Even if you are not able to compete, there are still plenty of opportunities to be part of the Games – volunteering or officiating is a great way to be involved.
Minister for Sport and Youth, the Hon Kate Ellis MP, is excited that Australia has the opportunity to host the 2009 World Masters Games.
‘The Games are a great event for sport and our country. They will attract people from all around the globe to all parts of Sydney, bringing in tourism dollars and the unique enthusiasm for sport shared by all Australians.’
The Australian Government is a principal partner of the 2009 World Masters Games.
