Polocrosse team finish third in World Cup
The Polocrosse Association of Australia will welcome home the Australian World Cup Polocrosse team when they arrive in Australia from the World Cup in the United Kingdom.
Australia finished the Polocrosse World Cup third after they beat the USA convincingly in their final game 31-8.
South Africa took out the World Cup trophy after a 29-18 victory over Zimbabwe.
While this was a disappointing result for Australia, Coach Ross Shepherd was able to give a lot of experience to the squad, rotating players throughout the final game, and working the best he could with the horses provided to the team.
Polocrosse is an Australian made sport which the Polocrosse Association has developed in many countries overseas, and the strong representation on the international stage is testament to this work.
The Australian team consisted of; Cameron Shepherd from Queensland; Alison Mathie, Lance Anderson, Sandra and Will Weston from New South Wales; Jess Jolly from Victoria; and Jodi Tiver and Robert Sibley from Western Australia.
The Australian Government is a strong supporter of the Polocrosse Association of Australia, providing over $120,000 in annual funding to support the development of the sport at both the elite and grassroots level.
