This year Nur Suryani Mohamed Taibi will become the first Malaysian woman to represent her country in shooting at the Olympic Games. She will also be the fourth athlete to compete at the Olympic Games while pregnant. Things have certainly changed from the days when pregnancy signalled the end of a woman’s sporting career. Her journey to the Olympics illustrates the important message that sport is for everyone.

Play by the Rules, is a unique program supported and funded by the Australian Sports Commission, which provides a range of short interactive scenarios on topical issues and challenges in sport, including pregnancy and participation. The user friendly step-by-step scenarios provide insightful advice on addressing safe and fair sports practices and procedures.

Addressing both organiser and participant issues, the scenarios target key topics such as: disability inclusion, sexual discrimination and harassment, over training, religious inclusion, homophobia, and team selection for junior sport.

All scenarios reinforce the key principles of inclusion, safety, equality, openness and leadership.
