Putting community sport in the spotlight

Sport Without Borders Conference
The Sport Without Borders Conference will focus on sports participation at the local level.
17 Apr 2013

Sports participation and inclusion at the local level will be a key focus of the Sports Without Borders Conference 2013, which takes place Friday 3 May 2013 at Moonee Valley Racecourse, Melbourne.

The conference will bring together delegates from across the sports sector, including administrators, players, participants and volunteers, and provide them with an opportunity to share ideas and expertise on the conference’s main theme — ‘Innovation in community sport: learn how, now!’

It will also cover gender equity and social inclusion, adapting to change and maintaining the integrity of community sport.

The conference will offer practical and informative sessions on how sports organisations can recruit and retain volunteers, develop systems to engage members, attract under-represented groups, build partnerships with stakeholders, develop marketing strategies and drive innovation.

Key speakers include:

  • Minister for Sport and for Multicultural Affairs, Kate Lundy
  • Victorian Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty
  • Chief Executive Officer, Basketball Australia, Kristina Keneally
  • Community Participation Manager, AFL, Josh Vanderloo.
