Generating commercial revenue for national sporting organisations

Chief executive officers and commercial teams from all Australian Sports Commission-funded national sporting organisations (NSOs) will attend the Commission’s inaugural Commercially Sustainable Sport forum in December.

The forum will provide NSOs with the tools and networks to build and maintain their commercial capability.

Topics featured on the day will include:

  • individual athlete sponsorships
  • value propositions, telling your sport’s story
  • experiences from a sponsor perspective
  • findings from the ASC’s Economic Impact of Women’s Sport
  • sponsorship key considerations
  • media sales and sponsorship implications for NSOs
  • Women in Sport discussion panel.

The forum will also provide delegates from the NSOs with the chance to meet, network and learn from one another.

CEOs of all funded NSOs have received an email invitation from the ASC and are encouraged to extend the invitation to their commercial teams.

“The ASC is committed to improving the organisational capabilities of NSOs, and commercial sustainability is one of the key priorities” says Michael Thomson, General Manager of Participation and Sustainable Sport at the ASC.

 “During the forum we will be sharing our white paper on generating commercial revenue, which will help sports with their strategies to enhance their commercial sustainability.”

Becoming commercially viable and sustainable is an imperative for NSOs to guarantee the future of their sport and their organisation. The forum will provide sports with valuable tools and networking time to achieve these goals for their organisations.
