Research

In this section

Before the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) can conduct research,  permission must often be sought from governing bodies. These permissions are generally coordinated by the contracted research agency. These types of permissions include:

  • individual schools/Out of School Hours Care Services (OSHCS)(sites)
  • catholic education offices
  • state/territory government departments of education

When sites sign their Grant Application Forms (GAF) permission is given to be involved in research. By signing their GAF, they are indicating they will cooperate with the ASC in relation to the Active After-school Communities (AASC) program research and evaluation.

Sites also acknowledge that the ASC collects personal information for the purpose of administering and delivering the AASC program. The ASC may disclose the personal information the sites provide in their application to contracted researchers for the purpose of the research and evaluation of the AASC program.

One of the most important steps for research and evaluation is to seek permission from parents/guardians before conducting research. All sites receive the relevant Information and Consent Form Package prior to the research being undertaken. These packages explain responsibilities of the sites in relation to parent consent for research related purposes.
