Community coach mentoring program
The Community Coach Mentoring Program has been developed to assist regional coordinators implement a mentoring arrangement between experienced fully registered community coaches and inexperienced coaches.
Informing interested mentors and mentees of the mentoring program
The mentoring program can be discussed in a number of forums. Some examples include:
- one-on-one meetings with interested or registered coaches
- during meetings with sporting organisations
- as part of conversations or presentations about the AASC program
- at, or after, the Community Coach Training Program training
- during refresher courses
- as part of an appraisal process
- through newsletters.
What to provide interested mentors and mentees
- Interested parties can request the following from their regional coordinator:
- Either the Mentor coach fact sheet or the Mentee coach fact sheet; and
- Community coach mentoring agreement.
- Those wishing to be part of the program should complete and return the agreement slip to the regional coordinator. Once arrangements are established a Community coach mentoring pack is forwarded to both the mentor and the mentee.
Things to remember
- Each mentoring arrangement should be negotiated between the regional coordinator, mentor coach and mentee coach to ensure the program outcomes are achieved.
- The Community coach mentoring timeline can be used as a guide through the process. It can be tailored to fit specific mentor and mentee arrangements and sport specific outcomes as required.
- Any payment for the coaches should be negotiated prior to the arrangement beginning and should fit within the relevant site's AASC grant funding budget.
- Each state can implement the process as they see fit.
