South Australia — local table tennis talent uncovered

07 Dec 2009

Mt Barker Waldorf school student and AASC participant, Ostara Nandori, has emerged as a table tennis super star after winning two trophies at the recent South Australian Junior Table Tennis Championships.

With no previous experience in table tennis, Ostara participated in table tennis sessions as part of the AASC program offered at Mt Barker Waldorf.

Adelaide Hills Table Tennis club and state coach, Sigi Stoeger, spotted her talent and after only four additional lessons, saw Ostara combine with another local, Levi Goeby, to win the under 15 mixed doubles title.

In the individual competition, Ostara overcame far more experienced competitors to come home with an impressive second place in the under 15 girls competition.

Ostara and a second Mt Barker Waldorf student, promising eight year old Hamish Crawford, are now playing regularly in the junior division of the Hills division 5 competition.
Indra Reinpuu, regional coordinator for the AASC program in the Hills region was thrilled with the news.

‘It’s great to see kids from the AASC program joining local clubs and getting involved with new sports in their own communities. Sigi does a fantastic job at promoting table tennis in the Hills, with programs at Mt Barker Waldorf, Uraidla Primary and Scott Creek Primary this term and starting in Littlehampton Primary in Term 3.
