Exposure to elite sport for AASC participants

06 Oct 2011

Over 100 children, representing 12 local schools, who participate in the Australian Government’s Active After-School Communities program, will be exposed to the nation’s finest adolescent bowling talents during the Australian Under-18 Championships this week.

The children will learn the basics of lawn bowls through fun and innovative games and drills, taught by Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Barrie Lester and reigning Australian Open triples champion Nick McIntyre, to gain an understanding of the rules and techniques before having a chance to emulate their junior peers vying for a national championship title by having a game themselves.
