Playing for Life resource kit and companion books, and junior sports programs

Playing for Life is an approach to coaching that uses games rather than drills to introduce the skills and tactics of a particular sport, or structured physical activity, being delivered.  Each session is designed purposefully, so that the games progressively introduce and develop a particular skill that is the focus of the session. The emphasis is on providing safe, fun, engaging activities that ensure maximum participation from all children, regardless of their level of ability.

The Active After-school Communities (ASSC) program has developed a Playing for Life resource kit and a Playing for Life companion book kit to assist community coaches deliver Playing for Life sessions to participants in the AASC program. These kits are provided free of charge on disc to people who complete the Community Coach Training Program and hard copy versions are provided to sites when they join the AASC program.

Sports coaching manuals and junior sports programs have also been developed in partnership with National Sporting Organisations to offer children participating in the AASC program a taste of Playing for Life sport specific activities.
