Current and recent projects

  • 2008/09 Sport Leadership Grants for Women. The program is aimed at providing women with an opportunity to undertake certified sport leadership training. Applications will open for the next round in March 2008.

  • Sport Needs More Women Forum – The Australian Sports Commission held this forum in Sydney in May 2003. About 300 people from clubs, schools, government, non-government, state and sporting organisations attended. Australian and international experts presented thought-provoking topics, discussion and information as well as best practice examples, ideas and strategies to attract and retain women and girls in sport for the future.
  • Towards Better Sport: Good Practice for Women and Girls is an important reference tool for the sports industry. The manual features strategies and initiatives that have been implemented by various organisations in Australia and internationally to increase the participation of women and girls in a variety of roles in sport. The manual will be continually updated, including outcomes of workshops and other contributions.
  • Pregnancy in sport: Guidelines for the sport industry – The Australian Sports Commission has produced comprehensive yet simple and clear guidelines on issues relating to a pregnant women’s participation in sport. These provide advice and/or information from medical, legal, insurance and ethical perspectives. The document is available online.
