Projects

At present, the major projects of the Systems area include:

  • Establishment of ‘NTID Talent Assessment Centres’ at more than 40 locations across Australia. The development of these centres, in partnership with University Sport Associations and Human Movement and Exercise Science Faculties will assist in providing a significantly improved service to the general public in term of provision of physical screening opportunities. A major benefit of this system is the inclusion of regionally based universities which extends screening opportunities to those outside major metropolitan centres. Whilst the university network will constitute the major framework for the Testing Centre infrastructure, other key stakeholders such as SIS/SAS and RAS will be approached to join the network and ultimately, this combined system will increase the number of results received by the NTID program and thus improve talent identification opportunities.
  • The development of an interactive online self identification tool (eTID). This web-based tool is designed to enable a wide spread TID screening process for new and existing athletes aged 12 to 25 years. Through the administration of simple field based assessments, individuals will be able to gain an indication of their athletic potential comparative to normative data relative to age and gender. Furthermore, this online tool will act as a vehicle to direct prospective athletes to one of the NTID Talent Assessment Centres for verification of testing results in a controlled and safe environment.
  • Development of stakeholder relations with key Indigenous partners to specifically focus on the identification and development of sporting talent within indigenous communities. With six 6 staff strategically located in QLD (two), NSW (two), WA and NT the development of networks with Indigenous government, sporting and community groups, at a local, state and national level has evolved significantly.

Opportunities for future expansion and growth in the Systems area are plentiful and in addition to the priority areas outlined above, a number of other projects are being explored which will support the improved identification and development of talent across regional and metropolitan Australia.
