Sport Overview
The aim of the NTID Cycling program is to establish and implement programs that identify, recruit and rapidly develop individuals who have the potential to achieve international excellence in one of the many cycling disciplines (road, track, mountain bike and BMX). Programs will focus on concentrating talented athletes into centres of excellence and in some cases, talent transfer models will be utilised.
Australia has a rich history of producing talented cyclists in road, track, mountain bike and BMX. The Athens Olympics saw Australia bring home six gold, two silver and three bronze medals resulting in their best Olympic Games ever.
In the past, talent identification efforts in cycling have been very successful. In 1993, a track cycling talent identification project unearthed three Junior World Champions in South Australian secondary schools. They included Alayna Burns who won Commonwealth Games gold, and competed for Australia in the track cycling team at the 2000 Olympic Games. Alayna placed 7th in the 3000 m individual pursuit, and 9th in the 25 km points race.

Testimonials
“Great to have so many professionals come to talk to us and help us”. Dirt Roads to London Athlete on camp
“Damien Grundy (National MTB Coach) was invaluable to have around in Switzerland & Italy. I learnt a lot from him and did some great training sessions on technique”. Zoe King (Dirt Roads to London athlete who competed OS)
“I’ve been on a lot of camps for rowing, and honestly - the camp run fantastic. It was by far the most well-organised and specific camp that I’ve been on. And I learnt a lot. We were very spoilt having Warren MacDonald and James Victor there as well, and Anouska, a physiotherapist with strong background in cycling.” Dana Faletic (Road TT Camp)
“I really like the program and how it is going. Thank you for giving me this experience. Tassy was a good learning experience for my racing.” Track Sprint Athlete
