Mentoring workshops for officials a success
Australian Sports Commission
13 Jun 2008
Over the past five months the Australian Sports Commission has assisted the development of officials through a series of Mentor Communication Skill workshops hosted around Australia.
The workshops are an extension of materials presented in the Mentor Framework training undertaken during 2006 and 2007. An extensive range of topics have been covered during the day, including mentoring relationships, skills of a mentor, communication skills, how to give & receive feedback, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence and learning styles. The workshops have incorporated hands-on presentations of information, ideas and application by experts that the Australian Sports Commission has engaged across these areas. Presenters have included Henny Oldenholve, Mark Evans and Dr Michael Lloyd.
Workshops have been hosted in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Canberra with the final of this series to be hosted in Brisbane on 29 June. Positions are still available to attend this workshop. Interested individuals should contact Peter Topp at the Australian Sports Commission on (02) 6214 7645 or email peter.topp@ausport.gov.au.
