National Officiating Scholarship Program update

13 Jun 2008

The Australian Sports Commission’s National Officiating Scholarship Program (NOSP) continues to provide professional development for officials in the program, with the introduction of a satellite development program.

This second phase of professional development provided by the Australian Sports Commission includes home state visits for one-on-one professional development in the areas of psychology, recovery and nutrition from the NOSP specialists. This tailored approach aims to improve the performance of the NOSP officials.

The scholarship provides opportunities that may involve international, national and major interstate competition experiences. A number of NOSP officials have already been part of the action at some of Australia’s major events this year, including the AFL NAB pre-season cup, Pura cup Cricket, State League Football, Trans Tasman Netball League, Australian Juniors and Masters Swimming Championships and the World Beach Volleyball series in Australia.

Many 2008 NOSP officials will officiate at international competitions identified by their national bodies to further develop their skills as officials.

We wish them well in their officiating.
