Q. How can schools/OSHCS become involved?
A. The AASC program is open to Australian primary schools and childcare benefit (CCB) approved out of school hours care services (OSHCS). Schools and CCB approved OSHCS may submit an Expression of interest form (See below) to participate in the AASC program. As positions become available applicants will be selected based on the selection criteria.
The AASC program aims to reach over 3,000 primary schools and OSHCS and involve up to 150,000 children through to 31 December 2010.

A. As positions become available applicants will be selected based on the selection criteria
Q. What do schools/OSHCS receive if they are selected to participate in the AASC program?
A. Those schools/OSHCS selected to participate in the AASC program are eligible to complete a grant application form documenting their proposed physical activity programs and the anticipated costs. Costs may include delivery fees, supervision costs, equipment purchases, transport and/facility hire.
Q. What is the role of the school/OSHCS?
A. In addition to the demonstrated abilities mentioned previously, eligible primary schools/OSHCS are required to:
- nominate a coordinator for the program to liaise with the AASC regional coordinator and manage all aspects of the program including student participation, planning, grant applications/acquittals and other administration requirements
- commit to participate in the program for a minimum of 2 consecutive school terms for a minimum of 7 weeks each term
- ensure active supervision is provided during all AASC sessions
- provide and maintain relevant staff to student ratio for the full session
- participate within the AASC research and evaluation program as required.
