Schools and OSHCS

Schools and out of school hours care services (OSHCS) can express their interest in participating in the Active After-school Communities (AASC) program, through completion of the relevant form for their state below. As positions become available, applicants will be selected based on the following selection criteria: 

  • Diversity and equity across identified parameters. Identified parameters include, but are not limited to, socio-economic status, demographics, support to minority groups and balance of school/OSHCS type
  • Capacity to meet the AASC program objectives and requirements based on the details provided within this expression of interest
  • Equitable regional, state and national representation
  • Clearly identified supervision/coordination plan to run the program on an ongoing basis
  • Date expression of interest is received


Once selected an Australian Sports Commission appointed regional coordinator will contact you to confirm your involvement and arrange to meet with your nominatedteacher/staff member to start the planning process.

Support available to AASC program schools and OSHCS includes:

  • the ability to apply for funding to cover costs incurred in the delivery of the program, including remuneration of costs for the provision of supervising teachers, payment for the delivery of the program and purchasing of equipment
  • a designated AASC regional coordinator to assist in linking primary schools or OSHCS to potential program deliverers.
  • a quality assurance framework to ensure that the AASC provides fun, safe and quality experiences for children and is delivered by suitably qualified and accredited personnel
  • professional development opportunities for volunteers, teachers, OSHCS staff and community members to deliver structured physical activity.
