Issues

There are many issues relevant to junior sport, from injury prevention to how active a young person should be to how to curb un-sportsman like behaviour. Many of these issues are addressed for administrators and providers of sport in the Junior Sport Framework.

This section aims to link people to information about some of the key issues in junior sport for other stakeholders such as young people, parents & guardians, teachers and coaches.

Further resources and information about these and other issues can be obtained in the frequently asked questions section of the JSU website or from the state/territory departments of sport and recreation or relevant state or national sporting organisations.

Many of the topics are also covered in detail on the internet. Users should be careful to visit reputable sites that are supported by the government or sporting organisations. Some examples of useful sites are: Play by the Rules, Smartplay, Healthy Kids and Sports Medicine Australia.

Please note, this information is provided as a guide only. Please contact your doctor, sports physician or coach to discuss issues more specifically.
