Game description

Pair off players from 2 opposing teams and spread them the length of the court. On the signal 'GO!', the player with the ball at one end passes the ball to a team-mate in the next zone. This continues until a basket is scored. (Play in 2 teams of 5).

What you need (setting up)

  • 12 x cones or markers.
  • 1 x basket at each end or similar targets.
  • 1 x size 5 basketball per team or a ball of a similar size.

What to do

  • Form 2 even teams, one with bibs.
  • Create 3 zones – 2 goal areas and a central line.
  • Players pair up with a member of the opposing team.
  • Players distribute themselves in pairs – one pair in each goal area and the other pairs in the middle zone.
  • The goal defender of the attacking team starts with the ball.
  • The ball must be passed to a team member in each zone.
  • Defenders try to intercept the ball.
  • Players in the goal area score by shooting a basket.
  • The goal scorer (attacking player) is the only player who can shoot for a goal. Rotate this position after each goal is scored.
  • Modified basketball rules apply.
  • Teams must have a shot at the basket within 30 seconds.

Scoring

  • First team to score a set target wins, e.g. 3, 5, 7.
  • Option: An intercept can score a point too.

Change it

  • To make it easier play without a time limit for shooting for a basket or change the goal to a bin, wall target or player standing on a mat.
  • To make it harder players must shoot for a basket within a 3 second time limit

Safety

  • Ensure adequate space for the number of players
  • No body contact.
  • Ball cannot be taken out of the hands of a player.
