Game description

A player paddles a course and practices what to do when ‘falling out’ of a canoe.

What you need (setting up)

  • A pool or safe open water.
  • 3 - 4 x foam pool noodles unbound.
  • 1 x paddle bat or kick board.
  • 1 x personal flotation device (life jacket).

What to do

  • Straddle the noodles in the water and begin paddling from one side of the pool to the next.
  • At the middle point roll off the noodles and try to get back on while keeping hold of the paddle.
  • Continue to the other side of the pool.
  • Repeat the activity, but after the roll hold the noodles and swim it to shore.

  • Add items in the water to paddle around.
  • Time the activity.
  • Try paddling forwards and backwards

Safety

  • Perform activities in enough water and away from the edges to avoid colliding with the bottom or sides of the pool.
  • Ensure supervision is provided
