Game description
A relay race using various diving positions. (Play in teams of 6–8.)
What you need (setting up)
- An flat, obstacle free indoor or outdoor playing area 20 metres in length.
- 4 x cones spaced 5 metres apart for each team.
What to do
- Teams of 6–8 players line up behind their starting cones.
- When the coach says 'Go!', the first player runs out to their first cone and sits in a tuck position.
- The second player runs around the first player to the second cone and sits in an open or closed pike position.
- The third player runs around the first two players to the third cone and stands in the straight position. When their hands are raised into a T position this is the signal for the fourth player to begin.
- The fourth player weaves around the three players holding the diving positions and back to take the place of the player holding the ‘tuck’.
- The player holding the ‘tuck’ takes the place of the player holding the ‘pike’.
- The player holding the ‘pike' takes the place of the player holding the ‘straight position’, who then runs to the end of the line.
- The game finishes when all players have had a turn at each of the positions.

Change it
- Players assume the same position and the team goes through the game 3 times until all players have held each position at each location.
- Reduce or extend the running distance between cones.
Safety
- Do not bounce in any position.
- Be careful running around those holding a position.
Ask the players
- What do you have to remember to do in the tuck position?
- What do you have to remember to do in the pike position?
- What do you have to remember to do in the standing position?
