Game description

2 teams with a skittle-defender and a skittle in the goal area at each end. The team with the ball passes it to team-mates until a player is close enough to kick the ball to knock the skittle over.

What you need (setting up)

  • 4 x bibs/sashes per game.
  • 4 x cones or markers to define a playing area.
  • 2 x skittles per game.
  • 1 x football (soccer ball) or similar per game.
  • Masking tape to define the goal area.

What to do

  • 4 v 4.
  • Each team has 1 defender inside an area guarding the skittle - D1 and D2. Defenders are not allowed to touch the skittle.
  • 1 team (attackers) starts with possession in the centre.
  • Attackers:
    • move the ball around by passing between team-mates.
    • attack the skittle from outside the defined goal area.
  • Defenders:
    • try to intercept the ball being kicked by the attackers.
    • become the attachers when the ball is intercepted. 
  • Rotate D1 and D2 on a regular basis, e.g. after every 2 minutes or after a goal is scored.

Scoring

  • 1 point for each successful strike.

Change it

  • No defenders in the goal areas.
  • Attackers can only hold the ball for up to 5 seconds.
  • Change the size of the playing area.
  • Add more skittles.
  • Increase or decrease the number of players.

Safety

  • Choose a flat, smooth obstacle free surface.

Ask the players

  • Attackers, where can you move to score a point quickly?
  • Defenders, where can you go to make interceptions?
