Game description

With a tennis racket a player hits a ball into the air, lets it bounce and hits it up again.

What you need (setting up)

  • 1 x tennis racquet.                     
  • 1 x low compression tennis ball or similar.

What to do

  • A player hits a tennis ball into the air with their racquet, lets it bounce, and hits it up again.

Tennis - Bat tapping

Scoring

  • 1 point per successful hit-bounce-hit. If the player loses control of their ball and drops it, they will need to start counting from the beginning again.

Change it

  • Tap the ball on different parts of the racket.
  • Player hops or jumps as many times as they can while the ball is in the air.
  • Player moves around an obstacle course as they tap the ball.
  • Player hits the ball against a wall.

Safety

  • Use a racket and ball suitable to the player's ability.
  • Ensure the playing area is flat and free of obstacles.
  • Rackets must not be swung around or raised more than chest high.

Ask the players

  • How many times can you tap the ball into the air with your racquet?
  • How high can you tap the ball into the air and still catch it?
  • How many hops/jumps/other things can you do while the ball is in the air?
