Game description

A player complete a course that helps them practice specific weight lifting footwork and elements of lifting.

What you need (setting up)

  • 12 x cones or markers to define stations.
  • 1 x foam pool noodle, hockey stick, broom or rolled up newspaper as a bar.

What to do

  • A player uses a foam noodle, or bar substitute, to assist with practicing skill elements of weightlifting:
    • Station 1: Frog leaps – Jump and spring to the feet as quickly as possible. Repeat.
    • Station 2: Giant steps – With the bar resting lightly on the shoulders in front take a big step forward keeping the back leg straight. Step feet together. Drop bar to the thigh. Repeat.
    • Station 3: Scissor legs - With the bar resting lightly on the shoulders in front, jump into scissor legs (one leg forward one behind). Step feet together. Drop bar to the thigh. Repeat.

Change it

  • Add elements:
    • Station1:  Leap and spring to the feet with the bar on the shoulders.
    • Station 2: Raise arms above the head as the step is made. Step feet together. Drop bar to the thighs and repeat.
    • Station3: Raise the bar above the head at the same time the split legs are done. Step feet together to finish.
  • Make the circuit area smaller or larger.

Safety

  • Ensure the playing area is flat and clear of any obstructions.
