Game description

A player explores balance and movement with different body parts.

What you need (setting up)

  • 1 x mat or soft grassed area.
  • Optional: clock or watch with a second hand.

What to do

  • Player begins by lying on a mat face down then moves to a crouching stance as quickly as possible. Follow with lying on the back; lying on the side; and resting on the knees.

  • With both feet and hands on the floor move forward with same arm and same leg. After 5 – 6 steps, drop carefully to the ground and roll to the right side returning to the prone position. Repeat walk and roll to the left side then stand for a rest.
  • Repeat activity with alternate arm and leg.

Change it

  • Count the number of times a player can make it to their feet in a set number of seconds.
  • Create a circuit of activities.

Safety

  • Start with a short duration for balances and increase the holding time as the activity proceeds.
  • Do not bounce in any position.
