National and State Sporting Organisations

School as a Critical Environment

Schools are in the unique position of being able to introduce young people to a diversity of sports from which they can choose one or more activities that suit their interests.  Teachers have a special responsibility to foster positive attitudes towards physical activity and sport and to help young people develop sporting skills.  They are a powerful influence on the continued involvement of juniors in sport.

Sporting organisations provide another important environment for the development of young people through sport, and school/club links are an essential aspect of sport participation.

The tools and resources that have been developed are to assist sporting organisations to understand the benefits of working with schools and provide ideas for building successful links between sporting organisations and schools.
