Food Safety Guidelines
Australia ’s Food Safety Standards regulate the way ‘food businesses’ handle, store, transport and display food. These Australian Standards will also soon apply across all States and Territories under a special agreement. Your club may be classified as a ‘food business’ even if food is being sold as part of a fundraising drive. The organisation that develops Australia’s food safety standards, Food Standards Australia New Zealand, has put together fact sheets for charities and community organisations to help them meet their legal obligations under the new standards. Information on safe food handling is also available from State and Territory departments of health.
