Anti-Doping
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) works with the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) to ensure that Australia has a world-renowned anti-doping program and that Australian sports comply with the World Anti-Doping Code.
Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority
The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA) is the Australian government authority that is responsible for implementing the World Anti-Doping Code in Australia.
ASADA's mission is to protect Australia's sporting integrity through the elimination of doping.
To achieve its mission ASADA focuses on three key themes—to deter, detect, and enforce:
- ASADA deters prohibited doping practices in sport through education, doping control (testing), advocacy and the coordination of Australia's anti-doping program
- ASADA detects a breach of a sport's anti-doping policy via its doping control (testing) and investigation programs, and
- ASADA enforces any breach of a policy by ensuring those violating anti-doping rules are prosecuted and sanctioned.
Check your substance
Athletes can’t just take any drug or medication, or even use any training method. Some drugs, medications and substances are banned in sport, as are some methods.
To check if a substance is banned, athletes and support personnel can use the ASADA website’s Check Your Substances tool.
Stamp out doping
To provide anonymous information about possible doping in sport, email stampoutdoping@asada.gov.au or call 13 000 ASADA (13 000 27232).
Find out more
To find out more about testing or anti-doping in general, check the ASADA website.
ASC funding and recognition
The ASC requires all Australian Sports Commission recognised and funded national sporting organisations and national sporting organisations for people with disability to adopt World Anti-Doping Code compliant anti-doping policies that are approved by ASADA and to submit to the jurisdiction of ASADA.
