Policy Template


The ASC’s Member Protection Policy framework template was developed to assist sports write their own member protection policy and is one of several steps to address issues of harassment, discrimination and child protection within their organisation.

Sports are encouraged to modify the template so that it reflects the needs and requirements of their organisation. It is a generic document for guidance only and includes:

  • policy position statements on ethical issues in sport, including child protection, harassment, gender identity, pregnancy and sexual relationships
  • organisational and individual responsibilities
  • codes of behaviour
  • guidelines on state/territory child protection legislative requirements
  • processes such as complaint handling, tribunals and investigationsreporting documents.

Several member protection policy resources have been developed to assist sports implement their policy. These can be downloaded by clicking on the links above, and include:

  • instructions for downloading and modifying the Member Protection Policy template.
  • a policy checklist that outlines the key components that should be included in any policy developed to address harassment, discrimination and child protection.

The template is currently being reviewed. Version 5 of the template will be available before December 2008.
