Policy Template

In this section

The ASC’s Member Protection Policy framework template was developed to assist sports write their own sport-specific member protection policy and is one of several steps to address issues of harassment, discrimination and child protection within their organisation. Sports are encouraged to modify the template so that it reflects the needs and requirements of their organisation. It is a generic document for guidance only and includes:

  • position statements on ethical issues in sport, including child protection, harassment, gender identity, pregnancy and sexual relationships;
  • organisational and individual responsibilities;
  • codes of behaviour;
  • guidelines on state/territory working with children check legislative requirements;
  • processes such as complaint handling, tribunals and investigations; and
  • reporting documents.

The template is regularly updated. The current version available was updated in July 2009.

The template and procedures or individual parts are listed below, along with a checklist of key features of a Member Protection Policy for those sports that wish to develop their own policy.
