ASOP - Small grants

The Australian Sports Outreach Program (ASOP) is an Australian Government program that uses sport to address broader development priorities and community issues. The ASOP has two small grant programs:

  1. Pacific Sport Development Grants
  2. Targeted Countries Sport Development Grants

Together, the grants programs provide opportunities for predominantly Commonwealth countries in the Pacific, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean to receive support towards sport for development initiatives.

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) works closely with the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Australian diplomatic missions to promote and manage grants programs in each of the eligible countries.

Submissions for sport for development grants are assessed by a committee comprised of representatives from the ASC, AusAID and DFAT.

ASOP Pacific Sport Development Grants

The Pacific Sport Development Grants provide financial assistance of up to AUD $10,000 to eligible Pacific countries for targeted small-medium size community projects which increase community participation in sport or physical activity and contribute to development outcomes such as health, social cohesion and social inclusion.

Government, non-government and community based organisations in eligible Pacific countries may apply for a grant. The program covers the South Pacific region, excluding Australia and New Zealand.

The Pacific Sport Development Grants are administered by Australian diplomatic missions.

For all information on the Pacific Sport Development Grants, including timelines for the 2013-14 round, eligible countries, grant guidelines and and application form, please visit the DFAT webpage.

ASOP Targeted Countries Sport Development Grants

The Australian Sports Outreach Program's Targeted Sport Development grants will not be available in 2012-13. Any future developments regarding this program will be notified via this website.
