Brunei delegation visits the AIS
Delegates from the Brunei Ministery of Culture, Youth and Sport touring the AIS.

A delegation from Brunei Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport visited the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra yesterday, meeting with Australian Sports Commission (ASC) personnel including National Sports Program Director Greg Nance and AIS Director Professor Peter Fricker to discuss the development of elite sport and sport structures in Brunei.

On a previous visit to the AIS Brunei High Commissioner Adnan Jaafar was so taken by the facilities that he wanted to ensure that his country's ministry responsible for sport had the opportunity to visit and discuss the possibility of working with the ASC on future projects.

Visiting dignitaries included Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Hamid Hj Mohd Jaafar; Acting Assistant Director, Youth and Sports Development Zafri Hj Mohamed; Sports Medicine and Research Centre Sports Specialist Dr Haji Danish Zaheer; High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam H.E. Adnan Jaafar; High Commission Second Secretary Hani Nadiah Sani; High Commission Third Secretary of Brunei Darussalam Zainuddin Zainal and Youth and Sports Affairs Officer Mohamad Azam Mohd Salleh.

During their visit, the delegation had the opportunity to take an exclusive tour of AIS Physiology and Biomechanics as well as the new AIS Aquatic Testing Centre and Recovery Centre.

The delegation was greatly impressed not only by the world-class training facilities and services of the AIS, but also the coaching and sports science expertise.
