Join webinar discussion about the impact of sport in our multicultural society
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is hosting a three-part All Cultures webinar series that will consider what an increasingly multicultural society means for the sports sector. This series will present online a new webinar on the first Thursday of every month.
Each webinar will focus on the current multicultural sporting environment and explore connections between sport and community, discussing how connections are made and their importance.
ASC Sports Development Deputy General Manager Geoff Howes said the series aims to bring together sports organisations, service providers and community organisations.
‘This will assist in creating sustainable opportunities for participation by people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in sport and active recreation,’ Howes said.
‘The great thing about webinars is that they are free to access and open to everyone. You do not need any complicated software to participate.’
The first webinar in the All Cultures series, ‘Setting the scene and making connections’, was held earlier this month and is available on the ASC website.
Creating opportunities for participation by working together: part two in the All Cultures webinar series
The second webinar, ‘Creating opportunities for participation by working together’, will be held on 5 April at 1.00pm, showcasing examples of how sport, service providers working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and people from CALD backgrounds have been working together to create more opportunities to participate in sport.
Two locally delivered programs will talk about their experiences, sharing the successes, challenges and key learnings that can help future program design and delivery.
