Latest Research

AIS Performance Psychology’s current research agenda targets these core areas:

  • Mindfulness
  • Resilience
  • Mental Health

Current PhD Scholar projects include:

Mental health in sport (Joshua Sebbens)

Poor mental health is common and people in high performance sport are not immune.  Through my research we aim to increase the mental health literacy of the high performance sport system by developing and evaluating mental health awareness programs, and investigating the antecedents of effective helping behaviours.

Understanding and enhancing resilience in sport (Umut Dogan)

Understanding and improving athlete resilience has been identified as a major priority in Australian high performance sport. Through my research we aim to review and clarify concepts similar to resilience, explore the efficacy of mindfulness and psychological skills training protocols to enhance resilience, and develop bespoke feedback solutions for athletes and coaches to help monitor resilience and stress adaptations in the daily training environment.
