Market Segmentation for Volunteers study shows value to all sports

The most comprehensive study of Australia’s 2.3 million sporting volunteers completed by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has been released.

Minister for Sport Peter Dutton released the Market Segmentation for Volunteers study at Netball HQ, in Melbourne, reflecting the huge contribution volunteers had made to all levels of netball from grassroots to the Commonwealth Games gold medal winning Diamonds.

The study looks at why Australians become sporting volunteers, and is an invaluable resource for all sporting clubs to attract members and plan for growth.

The study also identifies 10 categories of volunteers and non-volunteers to better understand, attract and retain helpers.
