Educating Richo

23 Feb 2015

‘Well if I can kick 800 goals on the [MCG] and deal with heaps of one-eyed Collingwood supporters, I reckon I can pull it off …’

Famous last words. Or maybe not?

AFL star Matthew ‘Richo’ Richardson was famed for his unflinching confidence — not to mention physical prowess — on the football field. But in the second of three videos on the ASC’s Community Coaching General Principles Course he’s about to learn coaching is a tough gig — and a bit of guidance can be the difference between triumph and failure.

The prior release of the coaching video on football and now cricket— with one more to follow on Netball— coincides with the launch of the Community Coaching portal. This includes a range of online videos and resources to arm coaches with the basic skills of coaching so that every kid has a fun and safe sporting experience.

Because as Richo learns, every coach can do with a little help.

Disclaimer: If you haven’t already, make sure you check out the Football video and be sure to stay tuned for the third and final instalment of the netball video to be released in March 2015.
