Resources
You don’t need to build a program from scratch.
Ulti-Mates and Fly give teachers and coaches practical, structured resources to help students' progress from their first throw through to playing modified Ultimate.
The resources are designed to make delivery simple, flexible and engaging in a school environment.
Resources to support your delivery
Ready-to-use lessons
Structured sessions designed for schools
Follow sequenced lesson plans that take students through the fundamentals of throwing, catching, movement and game play.
The programs include clear lesson objectives, suggested timings, equipment requirements and activities, so you know what to teach and how to set it up.
Games and activities
Build skills through play
Students learn through a wide range of fun, progressive activities rather than repetitive drills.
Games introduce throwing, catching, movement, teamwork, attacking and defending skills before progressing into modified Ultimate.
Teaching support
Practical guidance when you need it
The manuals include skill descriptions, coaching cues, delivery tips and ideas for modifying activities to suit different classes, abilities and available time.
Ulti-Mates lessons are designed around a 60-minute class, but teachers can shorten sessions, adjust activities and mix and match games to suit their students.
Coach development
Build your own confidence too
Ultimate Australia provides a complimentary online Community Coach Level 1 course for teachers and community coaches who would like additional training and support.
You can also contact us and book a one-hour coach support chat from an experience player or coach to help you prepare for a Teacher Led Program.
Designed to work in a real school day
Every class is different.
You might have 60 minutes. You might have 45. You may have students who pick up throwing straight away and others who need more time. That’s okay.
The Ulti-Mates and Fly resources give teachers a structured program to follow, while still allowing activities to be adapted to suit the age, ability and needs of the class.
For example, Ulti-Mates includes separate program content for Foundation to Year 2 and Years 3 to 6, with activities that develop physical, social, psychological and cognitive skills alongside flying disc skills.
