Snow. The University of New South Wales. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Materials Science & Engineering) / Master of Biomedical Engineering.
I am enrolled in a double degree of materials science and engineering (honours), as well as my masters in biomedical engineering. Materials science and engineering is a broad degree that consists of understanding the composition and properties of materials, and how we can use these materials to solve engineering issues. Materials science involves looking at materials on an atomic level, to understand their properties, which can help in determining the best way to use them. My aim with this degree is to move into the biomedical field.
Due to my life in sport, I have taken an interest into prosthetics and believe this degree could help me combine my love for sport with my love for medicine/anatomy and hopefully help give both athletes and others a better quality of life through prosthetics. One day I would love to work in sports specific prosthetics, trying to find the most efficient and successful prosthetic for athletes to allow them to excel in their chosen sport.
