Rowing. Deakin University. Bachelor of Commerce.
I recently transferred to Deakin University from Monash University, where I was studying a Bachelor of Business. This decision was driven by my desire to continue my athletic pursuits while also challenging myself academically. Given the change of university, I saw an opportunity to refine my studies by transitioning to a Bachelor of Commerce, a degree that offers greater flexibility and a stronger focus on analytical and financial skills.
Commerce has always appealed to me because of its practical applications in the business world. I am particularly interested in marketing and finance, as they combine strategic thinking with data-driven decision-making. Throughout my studies, I aim to develop a strong understanding of business operations, market analysis, and consumer behaviour—knowledge that will be invaluable in any career I pursue.
Additionally, Deakin’s strong industry connections and emphasis on work-integrated learning played a major role in my decision. I want to gain real-world experience alongside my studies, ensuring I graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. My goal is to apply my learning in a professional setting, whether that be in a corporate role, entrepreneurial venture, or even within the sports industry, given my background as an elite athlete.
Transferring to Deakin and choosing Commerce was a strategic decision to balance my academic and sporting ambitions while preparing for a dynamic and rewarding career in business.
