Cycling. Queensland University of Technology. Bachelor of Engineering and Science.
I am enrolled in a double degree in Electrical and Aerospace Engineering and Chemistry at QUT. This course combines my passion for innovation, problem-solving, and scientific exploration, equipping me with the technical expertise necessary to contribute to cutting-edge advancements. My selection stems from a deep fascination with space exploration, aeronautics, and the chemistry that underpins material science and energy solutions.
My background as a cyclist has instilled in me a meticulous approach to problem-solving, resilience, and an appreciation for precision. These qualities align seamlessly with engineering and scientific research, where analytical thinking and perseverance are critical. Cycling has also fuelled my passion for aerodynamics, inspiring me to understand and develop technologies that can optimize performance. I would love to learn how to create and refine equipment that enhances efficiency and speed, contributing to both my performance and broader advancements in the sport.
I am passionate about being a role model for women in STEM and demonstrating to young athletes that they do not have to be defined by a single path. Pursuing engineering and science alongside cycling allows me to showcase the possibilities of balancing elite sport with academic excellence. I hope to inspire others—particularly young women—to explore STEM fields and pursue their passions, knowing that they can excel in multiple areas simultaneously.
By pursuing this degree, I aim to develop innovative solutions that contribute to the future of aerospace technology, particularly in areas such as propulsion systems and renewable energy storage. This course will provide me with the necessary technical knowledge, industry exposure, and research opportunities to make meaningful contributions to both academia and industry. The multidisciplinary approach of my studies also allows me to bridge the gap between engineering, science, and real-world applications, ensuring I am well-prepared to tackle complex challenges in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
