Jackson Hamilton

I am enrolled in a bachelor's program in physiotherapy at Notre Dame. It is a four-year, full-time program that "prepares students to become effective, culturally-appropriate practitioners". The curriculum combines foundational science-based courses with specialised physiotherapy-specific studies and approximately 1,000 hours of clinical placements.

I selected this course for a few main reasons. Firstly, I have a visual impairment, so physiotherapy is an accessible industry for me to work in since it's mostly hands-on and up close. This allows me to participate fully in my work despite my disability, which is something many other jobs don't allow me to do. I have always had a passion for human movement, anatomy and physiology, so I chose to study this course. I've experienced first-hand how powerful physiotherapy treatment can be for people's mental and physical health. I have always had a natural passion to help people overcome adversity and live pain-free. I try to inspire that movement through my sport and work at all times. Working as a physio will allow me to expand on the impact I can have on people's lives by promoting exercise rehabilitation and encouragement to people facing disabilities, injuries, and much more.

I also enjoy physiotherapy study as it allows me to better understand and organise my own training systems. I always try and apply the information I have learnt to my own personal program, injuries and preparation, which allows me to perform at the best of my ability.
